What is essential to take on a trip for a travel writer?

• Big Nikon camera, lenses, and filters
• Tripod (big or small) and beanbag
• ++ memory cards
• Point and shoot
• Digital recorder
• Small notebook and pen
• Netbook and broadband stick
• 32GB thumb drive
• Mic+ear buds for Skype on my netbook
• Smartphone
• Day pack for most of the time and a fanny pack (for riding on camels!)
• Electrical adaptors (sometimes convertors too)
• Chargers for everything!
• Ibuprofen :(
• Money belt for passport and credit cards

The rest I can probably manage without.
